Tsunami Relief Benefit
Local artists stage a benefit at Art Attack for victims of the tsunami. All proceeds from
sales and performances will aid disaster relief efforts.

For those staggered by the stories coming out of South Asia, there's an innovative
outlet for empathy -- and charitable donations -- at tonight's Tsunami Relief Benefit.
Marshaling the forces of area musicians, crafters and artists, Somerville's Art Attack
hosts a multimedia soiree for those touched by the tragedy, which has claimed more
than 150,000 lives and affected countless others. Art Attack is the fledgling venture of
Philadelphian artist Heather Somershein, whose curatorial eclecticism is evident in its
selection of fashion, fine arts, crafts, accessories and furniture. The gallery has
quickly evolved into a salon for Somerville's diverse constituency of artists, many of
whom will donate their performances and proceeds at this evening's bohemian
benefit. Among those lending a hand will be clarinetist Todd Brunel, pianist David
Maxwell, folk singer Guy Mendalo, graffiti artist Caleb "Sonik" Neelon, jewelry designer
Amy Peterson (of Doodle Ink), Cubist painter Russell Freeland and photographer
Jonathon Follett. --
