Graffiti art on display in Inman gallery
Cambridge Chronicle, Thursday December 9th 2004
Graffiti artist Caleb Neelon, who normally goes by his tag name, Sonik, will be
featuring his graffiti-inspired interior pieces at Art Attack's Dec. 10 artist
reception, to be held from 6 to 9 p.m.

Sonik is a 28-year-old artist and writer based in Cambridge. He has spent much
of his time in Nepal, Brazil, India, Honduras and Australia, as well as across
Europe and the United States, creating large-scale street works in these distant
locales. In one of his most recent publications, "Supreme Quality," which
represents recognized graffiti artists, he expresses the effect of painting in
foreign territory.

At 13, he saw the graffiti- and mural-drenched Berlin Wall. He continues to be
fascinated with the untold stories so often behind the face of street art. He has
also taken a leading role in the documentation of the street arts movements of
the past 30 years. His current project, with Tristan Manco, is a book on the
graffiti and street art of Brazil, due in 2005 from Thames and Hudson.

He holds degrees from Brown University and the Harvard Graduate School of
Education. His studio work has been exhibited in galleries in Boston, New York,
Philadelphia, Los Angeles and San Francisco. He has also just published a
children's book, "Lilman Makes a Name for Himself," which Cantab Publishing
that he wrote and illustrated.

The exhibit will run through Jan. 14, 2005. Art Attack is located at 108 Beacon
St, Somerville. It is located just outside of Inman Square. For more information,
