It was a rainy evening but that didn’t stop art lovers “young” and “old” from enjoying the latest works by street artist, Caleb “SONIK” Neelon. His bold, bright, thought provoking and unrequitedly remarkable works sparked inspiring conversations. Sonik charmed all of Art Attack’s guests by discussing his large scale street works that were created throughout Nepal, Brazil, India, Honduras, Australia, as well as across Europe and the United States. His most recent publication, a children’s book, “Lilman Makes A Name for Himself,” features colorful illustrations with a wonderful story about creating your own identity; written and illustrated by Sonik.
The collection of whimsical pieces include “Optimism Requires Results,” where his signature “Lilman” characters extricate bricks from a green brick skyscraper and use a pulley system to elevate the pieces to the top. The bright colors enhance the story of building and striving for success with the plausibility that once you reach the top and achieve your dreams the building could topple. This is only one piece in his extensive collection of whimsical street inspired art works that will be on display at Art Attack until January 14th, 2005.
